Apologies for not blogging very much this week. It was my first week back at work and I’ve also had a ‘everything needs to sorted, organised and cleaned’ head on. I’ve been busy taking car loads of stuff to the tip, charity shops and stashing stuff in my shed ready to do a carboot sale soon. I’ve also listed a mountain of books on Amazon that my mum had cleared out from her collection, super cleaned the car (for the first time in 9 months, oh the shame), bathed and brushed Lily (she was vey unimpressed) and put a picture up that my Mum bought in the sale and I then bought off her.

A very close up Lily looking all shiny after her bath and brush |
I think it was from Wilkinson’s and isn’t fab quality, but its fine for a tenner and fills a space in the living room nicely. I tried to get a pic with my fireplace and everything in it but it’s so lovely and sunny in my living room today I couldn’t.
What with my sorting and cleaning head on I’ve been far to busy to head to the Rob Ryan exhibition and although I would have liked to go, I really needed to get on with sorting as I knew it would make my mind feel ‘tidier’ if you know what I mean.
I went carbooting last Sunday and picked up some nice bits and bobs considering there weren’t many sellers. I haven’t photographed them all as everything has of course been tidied away! I bought a few old tins for 50p each, some Beryl Wood’s Ware utility plates £1 for the lot, a Wood’s Ware utility jug in Jasmine 50p, some brightly patterned boots for £2, a pair of adorable Scottie dog book ends £4 and a crocheted blanket which I’ve put to use on a chair in the living room that Lily sits on and covers in mud. The blanket will be so much easier to wash than taking the whole cover off. The man had a few of the mini crochet blanket and I wish I’d bought them all now for only a pound a piece.
On Friday night my friend Lisa and I headed over to our best friend’s for a girlie sleepover. I think it’s probably the first one we’ve had since school, not counting the usual crashing at each others houses after a night out. It was lovely and we ate lots of yummy samosas, bhajis and kebab things, not to mention popcorn, cheese and biscuits and left over Christmas chocs (I’m due for my band to be filled next week so it’s a bit loose at the mo, but I was straight back on the wagon the next day). We watched some stand up comedy DVDs, Twilight and Mean Girls and finally fell asleep at 6am, followed by an early morning flurry of ‘My work phone’s going, I don’t bloody work weekend’s!’, ‘Omg, I’ve gotta be at my little brother’s football match NOW!’, ‘Ugh, I’ve got work in an hour’. I was lucky not to have to be anywhere and after picking Lily up from my mum’s, headed home to watch sky plus.

Chair: Ikea, the curtains are Laura Ashley and were a must have when I bought my house. I managed to pick up a matching blind from a carboot sale for almost nothing and it fits my small living room window perfectly. Fate and destiny obviously! |
I hope everyone’s having a lovely weekend! I’m off to have a relaxing bath, put fresh pjs on and sit down with my Sublime Stitching embroidery transfer patterns. I haven’t crafted for so long and I can’t wait x

I got the red picture from Wilkinsons, they are'nt bad for the money. I love your book end, gorgeous. Enjoy today, Larkrise is on later, yipee.
ReplyDeleteI bet the red one's lovely. They only had this colour when my mum went but given the choice I'd have had the red like you. I love red x
ReplyDeleteI love old tins, I got a couple of repro ones from Past Times a couple of years ago for cocoa powder and tea leaves, but I have an old Oxo one...for oxo cubes of course! Looks like you have had a lovely week. x
ReplyDeleteI love looking at your house, Amy! Jon was admiring those pictures in Au Natrelle before it went bump so I'll have to treat him to one next time I'm in town.
ReplyDeleteFellow vintage tin collector here. Always cheap and look so pretty.
Lily's looking fabulous. xxx
Awwww scotty dog book end is so cute. Sounds like you have had a really lovely weekend, I love sleepovers, haven't had one for ages. You are lucky to go to a car boot sale in January, where I live they aren't on till March!! I have withdrawal symptoms!
ReplyDeleteLove the crochet blanket...I collect old throws and blankets from car boots to cover the dog's chair....but very few car boots here at this time of year.

ReplyDeleteI need to do a good sort-out too - you are right, it does make your mind feel tidy. Love seeing pictures of your house, I'd love a little granny rug like that :)
ReplyDeleteI am long overdue for a good clearout too, I need to get my bum off the couch and crack on! You home looks lovely, right up my street, and that pic is lovely, isn't Wilko the best, they have a few nice Union Jack bits in at the minute. Hope all is well with the band your Mum mentioned that you are doing really well!

I love the picture of Lily after her bath and brush. Your house looks so cosy and you had some fab finds at the car boot. I can't wait to start car booting again. I too am having a good clear out and tidy, it must be something we all feel the need to do after Christmas.
ReplyDeleteJo xx
That picture is well worth a tenner, love the colour. I've had a good clear out this week and it does make your mind feel tidier, Lucey xx
ReplyDeleteHi Amy, I'm totally with you on the tidy house tidy mind theme. When I feel like that I can't think about anything else. I also love tins! :) x
ReplyDeleteTotal house envy! Love your chair and curtains. Sadly my home is never quite perfect- it's clean but no sooner have I squared away one room, another is a wreck!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like a good clear out to also clear the mind. Just love the bookends! x
ReplyDeleteAfter Christmas always seems like a god time for a refresh and clearout...it has been happening in this house, trust me...x
ReplyDeleteI love Twilight, im a geeky fan! I could watch that film over and over again. Nowhere as good as the book though!
ReplyDeleteI love the bookends, very cute!
Ive been having a good spring clean too but keep buying things to replace them so it really defeats the object haha!
Nothing beats a girlie sleepover, me and my best friend try to have at least once a month. Its just so nice to eat your weight in food, perv over actors and have a massive gossip! Then fighting over who gets what side of the bed haha!
